According to Variety, Sam Raimi and his Ghost House Pictures has made a deal with Alvarez, the clip's director, to direct a movie based on the short. If you remember District 9 was another movie that grew out of a short video.
What's even more impressive than the video, is that this cost less than $500 to make!

That video would probably work as the pre-title sequence, with the rest of the story taking place after they've nuked us.
