Man buys Virtual Space Station in online game for $330,000

Planet Calypso, formerly known as Project Entropia, has been known for a long time as the first major MMO with a real-time economy, where you can exchange real currency back and forth between the game and real life.

One of the users, known as "Buzz Erik Lightyear" paid $330,000 to own one of the best Space Stations in the game. This virtual real estate has no physical nor tangible component, it only exists inside the world of Planet Calypso.

Since you can charge other in-game players taxes and fees to visit locations, Buzz is probably going to try to make it a tourist destination, treating the purchase as an investment instead of a really large waste of money (although it probably still is).
